Hey guys,

Just wanted to throw this out there, I have been noticing after downloading IOS 11 that the Touch ID would unlock the device and I had to press again to go to the home screen. This was a little annoying, and I thought they decided to make every phone like FaceID where it unlocks and then swipe on the X or press the Home button to get to home screen. They changed the setting to off by default, but the fix is as follows:

Settings
General
Accessibility
Home Button
Last option is rest finger to open. This was off, I switched it back on and that fixed it.

Hope this helps someone.
