    take from this quote

"The idea of forcibly removing homeless people from the streets “has perennially been raised, but it’s now raised in the context of an entirely different regime at City Hall, so it’s a very, very dangerous development,” said John Clarke, an organizer with the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty."

Has this "import" from England ever produced anything but unrest.

I wish we could rid ourselves of him, and his little band of fellow-travellers.

Oh, and people are freezing to death in Europe right now.

How about a tear for their plight too?

I'm not familiar with the specifics of what Clarke fears about the new "regime". Nevertheless, I can't find the part where homeless advocates want the homeless to die to further their cause.

Is there some place outside the article where they've said that? Or is the thread title just hysterical propaganda?

Christ. Another stiupidly hysterical thread by dinaluvsApple.

You're lucky to live in a country as cool as Canada. If you don't like it, move to the states. Hell, I'll swap citizenship with you.

The US has a similar situation. People against Universal Healthcare want all poor people to die.

OK, so I'm not the only one who read this and thought, "Where does it say they want people to die in the streets?" I don't see even an allusion to such an idea.

Yeah, my question was pretty much rhetorical. :D I'd've been shocked if the OP actually had something to back up the thread title.

The OP is one of the worst trolls we've ever had in here. That person is not interested in honest debate or discussion. And we thought fivepoint was bad. This one takes the prize.

ok in toronto we've had decades old law providing police power to forcefully move homeless off the streets into shelters for their safety

during the last 8 years, we had a socialist traitor mayor, and no body had a problem with this law.

but suddenly all these liberal leeches are complaining how evil the new mayor is wanting to save lives.

The way you state your opinion tells me all I need to know about you. Harper probably isn't far right enough for you either.

im quite happy and proud of toronto for electing a fiscally responsible mayor who is going to tear down the liberal regime and break the unions.

Leave Canada. Don't ruin it. You belong in an aristocracy like the US. Please, give me your citizenship. I'll be more than happy with your unions and universal health care.

    "Socialist traitor"? Really?

Well, being melodramatic is a proven way of building street cred among other ridiculous, posturing fools. It's so successful it's easy to forget such displays of hyperbole bear no resemblance to reality. Then one day you find yourself accidentally saying things like that in front of normal people who respond as if you're crazy because, in fairness, the things you're saying are, but by that time you feel like you've got to save face, so rather than saying, "yeah, okay, that was a little over the line," you double down and start calling anybody who so much as suggests you might want to take it down a notch a "socialist traitor" and calling for them to all be swept up and thrown out of your country, and the next thing you know Rupert Murdoch is paying you hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
