One count conspiracy indictment coming your way.

No link yet, will come soon.

(Oh, and really I'm not celebrating... Not happy about corruption in politics. Just satirizing someone else's glee.)

Edit: Link'd
A Travis County grand jury today indicted U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on one count of criminal conspiracy, jeopardizing the Sugar Land Republican's leadership role as the second most powerful Texan in Washington, D.C.

The charge, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years incarceration, stems from his role with his political committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, a now-defunct organization that already had been indicted on charges of illegally using corporate money during the 2002 legislative elections.

Well, at least some people are being held accountable for thier actions.

I have to say - I laughed out pretty loud when I saw the thread title. Between several of the folks down here in the politcal forum and Lacero, I get a lot of my required daily comedy from this site.

he'll get his day in court, though i've little doubt he's corrupt through and through.

i've looked and looked and looked, but i can't find any pictures of him smiling today.

He was all smiles on his way through Monument Hall? (I think they said). Big show of being unconcerned about it. Perhaps someone with a high-speed connection will be able to find the money shot.

Isn't smiling when the feds are coming down on you proof that you are evil now?

his party IS the country....right?

don't forget he's the guy who screamed out " I AM the federal government " when informed that federal law prohibited him from smoking a cigar in a DC eatery...
"l'etat c'est moi" - Tom DeLay - oops, sorry, Louis XIV.

The chain of corruption keeps working its way to the top. I am waiting for that day to see Bush without his sinister smile.

What the defense appears to be so far;

1. Earle is a "Partisan Fanatic," who has an agenda against Delay.
2. The Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi, are secretly organizing this, because Delay is so good at what he does.
3. The accusations are without merit.

Delay has been all over the media today, I didn't see one good question asked by any of the interviewers though.

Interesting temporary replacements for DeLay too if true.

Can you believe the audacity of someone who galavants around the world with their same-sex SO on taxpayer coin all while allegedly submarining just about any and all legislation that may benefit homosexuals?

Even further, can you believe the audacity of some of the GOP-ers who will undoubtedly not raise a single objection to this despite the fact that every time the election train rolls into town they play "the anti-fag card" in order to re-up?

Or how about the constituent who with fist slamming against table sneers "g-dammit, a union is between a man and a woman and that's that." How does the constituent feel about his tax dollars going towards some jet-setting gay love? It isn't even on his/her radar because Survivor is on tonight.

Of course, you've got the usual Pelosi freakshow going on as well. There's never a mic less than 10 feet away from her or any of the other "top democrats". But it's all talk and ink and no delivery. Just a distraction. Gimme 30 seconds of face time, do nothing and then live off my tax deductions.

It's really a beautiful system for the 535 on the other side...

I like that he keeps saying it's some kind of liberal conspiracy against him. Maybe, but that doesn't mean it isn't true (like with Slick Willy). Plus, the people trying to nail him have also gone after Democrats who do the same thing(s). Who I would also hope they nail (no partisan politics here). Desparation? Shadenfraude? You betcha.

Next up, Dennis Hastert.

I haven't heard about anything that Hastert is involved in. Are you thinking of something specific?

Not to mention, Rove and Frist are going to face the fire soon.

Rove and Frist may be getting theirs, but when I read about Delay, there was mention of him as well. Can't find the article (damn MSNBC), but he could be in trouble for pretty much the same type of thing. There's an investigation, and I'm trying to reserve judgement, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Too bad, I had some hope for him.

Edit: There some info on his page on Wikipedia here about the Turkey thing. Kinda skeptical about that one, but everything else seems to be about that comment he made about bulldozing NO.

I think as more stuff comes out, the repubs will start to distance themselves from him a little more- we have only started to crack the surface...

I'm interested in hearing about his connection to this lobbyist who had a business partner killed by the mob so he could take over a casino...

You sure you aren't talking about Roy Blunt? He's apparently got some problems with the whole Abramoff scandal (known as the scandal that keeps on giving) same as DeLay.

I'm still enjoying the onomatopoeia of DeLay being succeeded by Blunt.

Don't the Republicans have somebody in their congressional delegation named Edward Shaft? Bob Robbery?

I've always thought the name of Rep. Jim Leach was appropriate for the cynics among us.
