because its an internet explorer only feature (trust microsoft to add something non-standard as usual)

speaking of hotmail and macs. is there anyway one can recieve thier hotmail email from the mac mail??? does one have to have a .mac account for this to work?

Actually, if you use the pull down list where it says "1.3" you can grab older versions that were jaguar compatible.

And yes, no need for .Mac, just the Mail app.

no ya dont.

when you set up a hotmail account...they ask you to "enable it" and you have to click a button or something - dont do this.

this dosnt "enable" anything...it "disables" your ability to recieve your hotmail through mail or outlook express (pc).

your account will still work perfectly - you'll be able to access it through a browser or through a mail app.

Tricky eh?

i tried out the plugin. I'm having trouble. This plugin is the panther one but it doesnt seem to let me get the older versions... because it says all downloads are of the current version which is the panter version. I don't have panter so this is a problem... correct? Or should it still work?

so i tried it out anyway. I open up the apple mail and it keeps on crashing on me.

wowzer

almost a year ago i asked this question and i still haven't got anywhere...

Does anyone know of a way i can create fancy emails (i.e. pictures, backgrounds, formatting) from any free webmail provider on a mac?
If this isn't possible, then it is completely ridiculous.

Microsoft Entourage will let you do fancy stuff. But that's not free.

I don't like the Mail http plugin because it gets broken occasionally (when MS changes something). So I have moved my Hotmail account to Entourage. Works ok.

The thing about http mail is that it's propietary. So any webbased mail won't work. You have to use their email client, which 98% of the time is Windows only.

So the result is I use Mail.app for my Campus email and Yahoo email (both POP3), Entourage X for Hotmail, and Outlook Express on VPC for my Lycos. I really like my lycos account, however they took away POP3 and replaced it with http.

i have a rule in my mail.app that sends mail back as "undelieverable due to HTML in the email" ... i tell my friends if they wanna email me.. send me plain text. it's the CONTENT of the email i'm interested in, not the garbage and fonts and pictures and crap.. i wish more people would do this. i refuse html mail on the basis of it being in the way.

You can also get Mail Forward ( I found it in apple.com) in the meantime to get your hotmail through a smtp adress... It works with Mail in Tiger... Till the http plugin is done for tiger...
