This is surely critical information as our nation moves on. Weaponizing bugs in the 1950's, because this is as pressing of an issue as any in 2019. I would like a commission to look into how many STD's JFK had.

Sure, we can blame anonymous people in the government for conspiring to weaponise ticks. Or... we can look at ecological data. It is becoming apparent that the nymphs of ticks feed on small mammals like mice. Through hunting and other man-made disturbances of the ecosystem, we have killed off many of the predators that kill the small mammals (and also scare them off roaming wideley thereby spreading infection to other animals; for instance see link). In Scotland this kind of thing is huge, since small predators (foxes, birds of prey, mustelids, etc.) get killed by farmers, estate gamekeepers and blood-sport enthusiasts because they cause damage to poultry on farms and birds
    hunted for sport (e.g., grouse).

It doesn't take some sort of coordinated government conspiracy to wreak havoc in our natural environment. You just need a few short-sighted dimwitted people.

I have four. One of them watched all of David Lynch's movie with me this week. To me this means one of two, he's a crazy psychopath, or he can actually be trained :)

I wouldn’t be surprised if they explored numerous biological vectors for biological weapons.

I grew up sailing and fishing in Long Island Sound. Plum Island is a sketchy place. I remember even ~10 years ago it was blacked out on google maps.

Ok, how do you feel about having F-16s, weaponized dolphins, or war in general? What about being able to defend ourselves?

Now there is a bit of devil’s advocate in my reply. I never supported weaponized dolphins, but weaponized bugs, it would depend on the details. Biological weapons could easily get into prohibited war crime areas by today’s standards, but not necessarily by 1950 standards, and research is research. An argument can easily be made that this research would help us fend off such as attack. As far as the Republican who want to investigate this, without knowing more about it, I’d propose we have more serious current things that we need to address first.

    1 I don't have one :(
    2. damn I would love one :D
    3. should only be engaged IF we are attacked
    4. we should be ready.
5 problem with weaponizing animals is that if they get out of hand WE are the ones who pay for it. do you think the ticks can differentiate between U.S citizens and those they are supposed to attack?

Lyme disease makes this a pressing issue.

In the 1980s, there was a conspiracy theory claiming that AIDS was the result of US experimentation. Nope. Turned out to be active measures.

The 1950-1975 timeframe helps ensure that the results of such an investigation can be publicized. More recent work would probably run afoul of the secrecy industry.

So as per 4, research into weaponized ticks in itself does not equate to a POS GOVT. It’s just another of your knee jerk, half cocked responses, imo.

No I did not. Research is different than taking the extra steps to make it happen.
