Wow. Now we watch as the House gets even more bat **** crazy. The establishment has lost control.

Good! Get a real conservative in there that will tell the Democrats to piss off! They never compromise, so why the hell should the GOP compromise?

Trey Gowdy should be Speaker. He'll make all the Dems piss themselves!

I wonder how much his decision was influenced by the Pope.

Yes, it's the Democratic Party that never compromises.

Wow. At the end of October?

Is his seat up for election this year? Or if he's mid-term, who takes it?

    His departure seems rather abrupt.

You can manage the crazies only for so long, before you lose your own mind. I'm surprised he lasted this long.

LOL, you are comfortably embedded in your conservative distortion zone (underlined above). I hope the GOP goes for it. Here is a real chance they will finally implode to a point of complete and utter irrelevancy.

I would think Roskam will possibly get the nod. Neither party is willing to compromise and hasn't for a long time. Which is why every few months there's another CR doom and gloom vote. Neither party is interested in a long term solution.

Yes, although I did disagree with him on his policies, he did hold back the crazies. So depending on his replacement, this could be a bad thing for America. I wonder how much his decision was influenced by the Pope's visit.

Announcing just a few weeks before his departure feels like abrupt end — at least to me.

I have to assume his seat isn't up for election this year, otherwise that would send Republicans scrambling for a candidate who'd have precious little time to campaign.

It's more likely that his seat will be filled with an appointee, but I have to admit some ignorance here and hope that someone can fill in the gaps as to what happens next.

All House seats are up every 2 years, even years.

I don't overly like him, but I think this is a bad thing since he was sane relative to the rest of the republican congress.

Now if Pelosi could just follow suit we can rid the upper echelon in the house of all stupidity.

I know it's every two years. But I couldn't have told you it was on even years.

Here's what I found about the replacement process ...
So it looks like they are in for a special election.

Shut the behemoth down. Reduce its size by 75% and no one but the bureaucrats will notice.

A "shutdown" still retains all "essential services," so by that logic it should always be a shut down. Any holiday is a shut down. No one notices.

The payroll taxes pay for Social Security so it has nothing to do with the budget unless Congress raids Social Security for other budget shortfalls!

Tell us how you would reduce its size by 75%. This should be good.

Good luck. These "cut the government by 75%" and "kill regulations" people never have actual ideas, just random swirling black holes of speculation.

Thanks for confirming you have no clue how to do that.
