I have an iPod touch 2g 3.1.2 and its stuck in dfu/recovery mode. Every time i try to restore it in iTunes it either says "unknown error 9" or 28. I've tried updating, I've tried downgrading I've tried pretty much everything, my iPod touch is jailbroken and is not covered by a warranty. I've tried running several jailbreak programs but it didnt help, it almost started but then went back to the connect to iTunes screen. Is there anyway to format my iPod without using iTunes, or anyway to fix error 9 or error 28? PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance!!! :)

Are you trying to restore it with custom firmware? I would try it with an Apple firmware first, then jailbreak again.
