Serious question,

With iOS 13 removing some 3D Touch functionality I am wanting to stay on iOS 12 on my iPhone 7.

The one thing that’ll bug me incessantly is seeing that red dot on the settings app telling me there’s an update available. Is there something I can do before 9/19 to prevent from ever seeing that red notification dot on the settings app on my home screen and just continue living my life on iOS 12?

You can get a tvOS profile and install it to your iOS device to stop update from showing up. Note that you have to install a new tvOS profile every year to keep blocking iOS update. There seems to not have a method to alter iOS setting to remove iOS update feature other than jailbreaking.

Just a side note though, 3D Touch is not “removed” but rather “downgraded” to a level that is not superior to “haptic touch”, which is basically long press.

Download the WatchOS 12 beta profile. This would prevent iOS 13 update.

Sorry to jump in but does this mean that 3D touch won't work as it currently does on an XS with iOS12?

I was under the impression that iPhones with 3D touch hardware will have 3D touch work as normal with iOS13....

I think you heard wrong. The new iPhones don't have the hardware for 3D Touch, but iOS 13 isn't going to make your hardware go away. It should still work for the phones that have the hardware.

Yeah it would have to be a software change in iOS13 - something I've not heard about but I have heard people saying that the slightest touch is currently activating 3D touch in the beta....
For those models which do have the 3D touch hardware, I hope the software keeps it working as normal in the new OS...

Can confirm, 3D touch continues to work on iPhones that support it, and it basically just lets you do the already-quite-fast tap-and-hold gestures slightly faster.
