Any details on how apps scale to the larger screen on the iPhone 5? Will there simply be black bars?

For apps designed around fixed image resources (think: mostly games), there will be an 88px black bar at the left/right (or top/bottom depending on orientation).

For other apps (like mail, messaging, music player, calendar, etc.) that use UI elements that are designed to display a list of elements (like a TableView), depending on the specific implementation, they will simply allow more elements to be displayed. Not unlike if you have your email client on your desktop, and you size the window larger.

I'm actually happy to hear about developers making use of the extra space in a more creative way (like when they mentioned some apps moving to more of an iPad like presentation model).
