I ran into one of facebook feed and found that Silicon valley people are considering about splitting California from USA and make it as their own country. *Update...i couldn't find it anymore.

    1) is this even possible?

    2) Is this even a good thing?

    3) Can they survive without the help at Federal level?

    That's not gonna happen.
The only state I could ever see this pull off would be Texas.

    We also need Cali.
    It's economy is important.

It may in fact happen if the San Andreas fault slides and causes a Richter 9 earthquake! ;)

    1) No it isn't possible for a state to leave the US.
    2) If it is a good thing or not depends on your perspective, but I would think it isn't good.
    3) California pays more into the Federal government than they get out so they would be just fine, the only question is what would the negative effect of lost trade connections with the rest of the US be.

California produces almost all of the US's fruits and vegetables, so the prices of food wouldn't go up, it would more be any loss of profits as it would be more difficult to sell those crops to the rest of the country as they currently do.

With less rain they are producing less and less as time goes by. High water costs has moved farming else where which increased costs of fruits and vegetables in California

I admit I came here for the title, it was intriguing :D

I don't live in the US anymore so I cannot speak for the situation now, but why would California need / want to leave the US? (Used to be in Georgia Marietta and LOVED IT!)

As for the World, I would agree with them, it is becoming a mess, might just as well start a new "planet", but I would think that moving would not be as easy :D

Where would they get their water from if they left? They would have to buy it from the US and it would probably end up costing a lot more.

I wonder if they could come to an agreement with Samsung to dump all the returned Note 7s along the San Andreas Fault so that when they explode the entire state of California will separate and float off into the sunset - presumably towards Russia.
