Depends on my mood
I know I shouldn't be posting this here, becuase it's a PC. I plan to get a Mac Mini soon, but for now, I'm stuck. I used to have a Windows XP PC, but I gave it away after seeing how much of a crapbox it was, I went back to the best WINDOWS system ever. Windows 98. Trouble is, I have lots of itunes music from my old PC that I would really like to get on there. Also buy songs of itunes too. But everyone knows that itunes isnt supported on 98. Are thwere any hacks out there that would allow this?

I'm not aware of anything that will allow iTunes itself to work on 98. There is software like XPlay ($30) that will allow you to interface with your iPod under 98, but you can't access the iTunes Music Store with it.

Looks like it's time to accelerate those plans for the new Mac mini...

what are you using the win 98 box for? you could "switch" to linux and use amarok. this worked for me for a while, you just cannot play protected aac but everything else is fine.

also, anapod might work for you

you mean under wine? that's a royal pain in the arse to get the ipod to be recognized but I know it's possible to run itunes in linux to check out the music store.

At least get Win2k...it's scary calling Win98 the best they ever made....
I preferred Win 98SE to XP. It wasn't great, but it crashed less than XP did for me.

Really? I use XP 8 hours a day, and I don't recall the last time the system crashed on me. Now AutoCad is a different matter...

Maybe my system at the time was just a piece of ****, but XP sat down on me every other week at least, and at one point I had to do a full reinstall twice in one night.

That's what drove me to Apple, so there was a very significant silver lining.
