How do you get videos on iPad to play in VLC?

On my IPP, I have video in Photos that I would like the vlc app to play. How is that done? Thanks

Select the photo, then open the share panel (it's the little square icon with an up arrow) and send it to VLC.

Thanks that was my first inclination however, VLC is not shown among the apps, such as Instagram and Dropbox, to do so. Can I add VLC amongst the app choices already shown?

Did you try the More... button? If VLC can handle the video it should be an option. If it’s not there, the video might not be playable in VLC. Beyond that I am not sure, so maybe someone else will know.

EDIT: The video was made using iPads built in screen capture video recorder.

I was also curious about this, so I tried with two different videos, including one that is a Screen Recording. The other was taken randomly with the iPP camera. Neither would export directly to the VLC App from the Photo App. So far the only way I could achieve this was by exporting to Dropbox. Once there, both videos exported to VLC no problem.
Anyone have a clue as to why?

No need to use any cloud services.

1. Open share sheet on the video within your photos application.
2. Select “Save to Files”
3. Scroll to top and select “On my iPad” (or iPhone if you are trying here)
4. Select the VLC folder.

Your video will now come up when you open the VLC application.
