How do you guys that own a 6+/7+/8+ or X/XS/XS Max comfortably carry your phone with you all day?

I love the bigger screen, but I hate the bulk of these larger phones. I don't wear tight trousers/jeans or anything (just regular sizes), yet even if I am standing up I can still 'feel' the phone and am conscious of it all the time. It's obviously even worse when I move/bend or sit down as my trousers/jeans pull the phone against me even more. I'm absolutely paranoid about bending/misshaping/crushing the phone when doing this.

  • I've heard people says things like "when I sit down, I just take my phone out of my pocket". REALLY? That might work for you, but let's be honest, for the majority of people that's just unnecessary hassle and means you always have to be conscious of doing it. It's not practical.

  • I've heard others say they keep their phone in their shirt pocket, or jacket pocket, or on a clip/belt. Again, that might work for you, but for a lot of people, its not 'cool' to have your phone in your shirt pocket or clipped to a belt - and a lot of people don't wear shirts with pockets or jackets (especially when its warm for most of the year).

  • I've heard people say "when I'm out, I just carry it around in my hand". That just sounds ridiculous, if someone knocks into you, or you drop it accidently, or you need two hands for something etc.

  • Lastly, I've heard people say they keep their phones in their back pants/jeans/trouser pocket. Again, that might work for you but I'd be paranoid of someone stealing it, or it falling out, or I forget its there and I sit on it and bend/crush it.

So for the rest of us (which I assume is still a lot of people), how do you do it? Do you just constantly wear baggy pants/trousers/jeans so it can move freely without the risk of being crushed/bent?

Honestly, at the moment, although I love the bigger screen, the larger size just isn't worth the extra consideration/hassle. A phone should be a convenience and make aspects of life easier, not be something you have to be conscious of all the time when moving/sitting etc.

In my front trousers pocket. It is a large phone, the iPhone XS Max but I find it works fine. One thing I find myself not doing is taking my phone out of my pocket whilst walking to take/make a call. This is the likeliest scenario in which the phone might easily fall.

So basically, I take my phone places, take it out to do whatever I want to do when I'm sitting then, when finished, put the phone back in the pocket. I don't like using my phone outside, anyway. The iPhone XR is a bit smaller but I use the same strategy with it.

The SE and 5S were excellent phones I did take everywhere with me as they were more comfortable in size.

Size is a factor when using a phone but your eyes get used to the bigger screens, and the deepness of the front pocket you use on your trousers does make a difference.

1. In a purse/bag.
2. In my coat pocket in spring/fall/winter.
3. In my back pocket, not feeling paranoid about it.

It seems less of a problem for women who can obviously keep it in a bag/clutch/whatever. Also, that's good if you're not paranoid about leaving a $1,000+ phone hanging out your back pocket....but I'm sure a lot of people (including me) don't feel particularly safe knowing that.
[doublepost=1546275360][/doublepost]Maybe I'm just weird and paranoid.

Seen too many people lose/break/have their phone stolen for all the above reasons and yet to find a compelling reason to convince me otherwise.

Not that my concerns about a big phone should be of concern to anyone else, just wondered if there was something obvious I was missing.

Had the + size phone since it was introduced. Keep it in my front pocket. 75% if I’m sitting, I’ll take it out as I’m using it!

I wouldn’t keep it in my back pocket walking down the street of a major city or a tourist area or a country where I’m not comfortable. Running errands in my town, yeah, I’m not worried about being pickpocketed.

I’ve had all previous plus sized phones and now the Max. Never had any issues with carrying it. No baggy jeans, shorts or pants.

Doesn't it feel unconfortable when you sit if it's in your front pocket? Most pockets for any regular size pants/jeans/trousers are either the same size as a Plus/Max or only slightly bigger, so when you sit the pocket will stretch over the phone.

I feel like I'm wearing pants wrong or something.

No not uncomfortable for me.

Not really a problem.

Not practical for you. Very practical for me. But then again, I'm concerned about bending or crushing a ~$900 phone I cannot afford to replace willy-nilly.

Perhaps you can, so that's why it's not practical for you?

It's not going to fall out. See pics above.

If it's going to be stolen then someone's going to have to get really up close and personal. See pics above.

As to your other worries, see my statement about ~$900 phones above.

You seem to be defining convenience as "I don't want to think about my phone at all except when I need it to do something".

I have a different definition. Maybe that just comes down to the fact that I'm conscious about where my phone is all the time because I don't use cases. I have a situational awareness of my phone because of that. Something I accept because I value my device.

Which is not to say you don't value yours, just that you don't want to be bothered it seems. Please just do not complain when you bend your phone because you cannot be bothered to remove it from a pocket.

No useful pockets for my 8+.
Much of the time I just leave it at home or in the car (Apple Watch LTE).
If I need it I can always put it in my bra.

Giving my age away but a HOLSTER is my way of dealing with my phone. Been using a holster since the old Blackberry days. Use the Sedio Surface holster with it holster.

I know most of you young people would rather die than be caught with a phone holster, but I have to get to my phone multiple times while in the field and I have found it to be most easy to access and put away when done.

Well yeah, but you're probably a quickdraw so it works for you. :D

I’ve had iPhones of almost every size: 3.5”, 4”, 4.7”, and now 5.5” (which, since it’s an 8 plus, makes it about the same size as the Xs Max).

How I live with my phone has not changed at all. I’m an average sized adult male who wears average straight cut or loose fit jeans, and my phone still fits comfortably in my front right pocket. I do not need to remove it before sitting down. No problems.

Carry my 8+ in my right front pants pocket, but itself, nothing else in that pocket. First thing I pick up in the morning, last thing I sit down at night (on a charger on the beside table). No issues at all.

Back pocket, purse, or where ever. Hasn’t been an issue for me. I take it out of my pocket when I sit down. It is second nature now. I have apple care theft and loss...so I have little worry. I have had an iPhone since the first one came out...and have always kept it in my back pocket. No issue yet. If someone steals it...then oh well. Rather that than jewelry etc.

I have zero issues putting it in and taking it out of my pocket, regardless of whether I’m sitting or standing.

I’ve got an 8+ and not going to pretend it’s an easy phone to carry about. It feels like I’ve got a roof tile in my pocket if I carry it in my jeans and I have to remove it when sitting down. I do like using a giver screen though so it’s a necessary trade off I suppose. It’s much easier if I’m wearing a coat but it’s a substantial bulk that makes portability more of an issue for me.
