And were do you buy it from?

Apple retail or Apple online store (education discount or staff discount or referbished)?

    Or any other retailer?

I plan on upgrading ever 3-5 years. I buy all my Apple products from Apple Online Store. I will start buying them from Target soon cause I'm about to get a job there.

It used to be every update but i havent updated in two generations. which is rare for me. But i'm just happy with my current machine plus the freezing/heat issues people are having with the new ones has put me off for another generation...maybe even until a redesign.

I usually buy from Apple online but i've done refurb and retail stores. My current system was a retail store purchase.

I buy them to often and I do care too much about the whole topic. Since 2002 I bought 5 Macs. 2 iBooks, 2 Macbook Pros, 1 x iMac. Loved them all. I still own one iBook and one Macbook Pro.

I always buy them in the online Apple Store as I always BTO.

I only buy when the one I've got has broken, or become too slow for what I need to do on it. Still rocking my 1st-gen MacBook Pro! (Replaced my PPC iBook G4)

I tend to buy refurbished from Apple online.

Macs Very Infrequently, but Never a PC

My Mac purchasing history fits on one hand:
    1991 - Mac LC
    1995 - Quadra 475
1999 - iMac (400MHz GL SC, I think; the graphite iMac)
    2003 - 1GHz TiBook
    2010 - 27" i7 iMac (July 2010 edition).

Why so infrequently?...because they suite my needs over a long period of time, and are supported for many years.

FWIW, I have never purchased a PC, and never will.

Previously with my PC desktops I was on a 3 year cycle.

However; I purchased a MacBook when they were first released. I'm going on 4.5+years with this thing. It is still running strong and does 95% of what I need it to do without any problems. I'm thinking of upgrading to a high res 15" in the near future solely for more screen space, and the graphics card bump would be nice as well.

So put me in the other, 4-5 year cycle.

I have one within hands reach and two within foots reach. I think that explains it.
