Maybe that's why they are so inefficient?

I thought it was because it wasn't their money they were tossing about.

How does this compare to other countries of a similar size to the US? And are these just expenses or do they include security and other costs for running the buildings?

At the rate this country is going, we'll be a third world country in 50 years. Thankfully, I should be dead by then.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will take that long.

But, the pressure will finally be gone. We don't have to be the straight-A student who protects the other kids. Instead, we can chill out in the pool and have a few beers. Maybe go clubbing.

More like we're the fat kid on the block that no one really likes but they come over anyway because we live in the nicest house on the block with the pool and have all the best and latest toys.

So, by those numbers, chiefs of staff make on average $80,000. Doesn't seem particularly outrageous.

The US is still #1 on a number of things, technology use in businesses and University education for example.

435 house members and 637 chiefs? Something not quite right there.

There are actually 441, but you're right. The figure includes deputy chiefs of staff as well, which I guess less than half of the members of congress have as a staff position.

Also, do these figures include the Senate or not?

I work for the government and we buy 100% Dell. They're in good with our state's procurement division so I don't need to bid on equipment, and their warranty support for enterprises is great. Since we don't do any design work we have no need for Apple products, so we've given $0 to Apple over the last 5 years except for some iPhones but we purchased those through AT&T.

If I started buying end users Apple products my job would become a nightmare.
