I wanted to connect my 2012 Mac Mini Mavericks Server to an HP LP2475w monitor at 1920x1200 over HDMI but when I connected HDMI-to-HDMI, the text on my screen looked blurry. The problem, it seems, is that the Mac Mini fails to differentiate between an external monitor and an external HDTV. This failure forces the Mac Mini to output only 1080p over HDMI. Thus text looks blurry because the resolution is incorrect. So after a little digging on the web, I found a working solution.

Download the file “patch-edid.rb” from here
Copy the file “patch-edid.rb” and move/paste it in the Home folder
*Find the Home folder by opening Finder - select Go - Home

Open Terminal (Finder - Go - Utilities - double click Terminal)
Type "ruby patch-edid.rb" (without the quote marks)
This will create a file in your Home folder

Move this folder to the following location:
    System - Library - Displays - Overrides
*To see your System folder, from Finder select Go - Home

    Turn off your Mac.
    Turn off your monitor.
    Turn on your monitor.
    Turn on your Mac.

Turning off your monitor is a necessary step or this solution will not work.

    I hope this helps someone.

For more information, read the informative blog "Force RGB Mode in Mac OS X to Fix the Picture Quality of an External Monitor."

PS--I have not tested this on OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

What other inputs are in the monitor?

    ----------

I looked up your monitor, use the DisplayPort. I think there are DP -> mini Display Port. Otherwise use the DVI, you Mac shhould have come with an adapter
