I've been using iOS 11 public beta 8 on my iPad and it's been a lot fun with new multitask features. But I'm having a bit of problem with slideover.
For example, while I'm using Safari I dragged mail app in slideover mode then I swipe right to get rid of mail app when I'm done with it but when I launched mail app it's still in slideover window on the right side.
How do I make mail app to exit slideover mode completely?

It sounds like you are in split view 75%/25% mode rather than slide over.

Simply drag the center divider bar between apps fully to the left to remove the app sharing with mail.

If you are truly in slide over mode while in safari and mail is launched with safari as a slide over app this must be a unique bug.
[doublepost=1504663070][/doublepost]I just messed around and was able to reproduce what you are describing.

I had safari and dropped mail on as a slide over window and then dismissed it to the right.

If I remain in safari and use the dock to launch mail the slide over window will pop out again.

To change this behaviour I just dropped a different app in slideover and when launching mail from the dock while in safari it would correctly change apps.

^ This.

Or I'll sometimes just us to 4/5 finger pinch to Springboard and launch mail (or whatever); it opens in the full window then.

My problem wasn't in split view it was slide over. The same bug you encountered where mail app would be still in slide over after dismissing.

I don't think that's a bug though. Slideover is meant to be able to be summoned back by sliding it back in. The big (or intentional but poor interaction) is that opening from the dock without going back home or to another app brings it back in. If the user wanted that they'd surely just slide it back in.

You initially opened Mail as a Slide Over app while using Safari full screen. Until you go back to the home screen (or otherwise exit Safari) iOS will assume you’d like to continue using Mail that way.

If you prefer to not exit Safari for some reason, you can also open Mail from the dock in Split View (drag the icon to either side of the screen) or by pulling down on the top bar when Mail is visible in Slide Over to change subsequent behavior.

I don't like how Apple assumes you want the app to stay in slide over mode forever. Even if I open another app and then open mail app it will still be slide over mode. I guess there's no way to exit from it except putting it in split view mode than drag it over completely. It will be so much easier to add X button on the corner to exit slider over completely. Bonkers design choice IMO.

Definitely feels a bit awkward. You can also go to the home screen and open Mail from there, which opens it full screen.

The problem with this method is that you need to be in home screen, otherwise if I launch mail from apps drawer shortcut it will still be in slider over mode no matter which app I'm currently in.

I guess sliding further up, into app switcher, can work as well assuming you had Mail running in its own previously. That’s about all I’ve got.

Haven't tried that yet I'll give that a shot. Do you know if the app switcher works the same way on iPhone? I only have beta on my iPad but not sure how much of that is similar on iPhone. Obviously there's no split screen, slide over on iPhone but I like going to home screen using sliding up method instead of pressing home button.

The rumor mill says that it will work the same way on the new iPhone (no home button) but I haven’t read anything on that idea for “7S/7S+”
