How to know if app supports Spotlight Search?

Just because an app shows up in the Spotlight Search settings doesn't actually mean the app supports Spotlight Search. Is there any way to determine, other than asking the developer, if an app truly offers Spotlight Search functionality?

Most I've seen have listed Spotlight Search compatibility in the version notes for the app.

For example: Yelp lists Spotlight Search in version 10.2.0 on the 17th September 2015.
