I’m trying to recover photographs and documents that were backed-up on a Time Capsule using Time Machine. My MBP had a HD failure and so it was replaced. I did a clean install of Lion and my primary applications. When I go to Time Machine, I can access the back-ups since the hard drive has been replaced (two days ago), but can only see the back-ups from before the drive failed. They are grayed-out (ghost). How can I recover these valuable files? Thanks,

I've only recovered one device.

I had a 2009 Rev C MBA... and after owning it for a few months, I realized the USB port was not working. I had never tried it earlier, so it was probably DOA.

I brought my MBA back to a local Apple Store, they verified the failure, asked me if I was backed up... and then we wiped the drive and they gave me a new MBA.

When I got home, the startup screen had the option to restore from a previous backup. I selected that an my restore was flawless.
