How well does iPad Pro play with Duet Display with 12” MacBook?

I ask this question knowing that it is probably impossible to get the smoothest second screen experience with an iPad.

That said, when an iPad Pro is connected to a 12” MacBook, how much stuttering is there? Is it at least smooth and stable enough for reading and typing things?

I have both Duet & Air Display, and both have been pretty good (I prefer Air Display because you can use it over wifi as well as with the cable). There is something with the newest OS X update that makes both of them not work. IIRC Duet has some kind of a workaround now that will work, but definitely verify that if you are running OS X 10.13.4.

Aside from that, based on your comments, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how well the iPad works as a second monitor. It's not as nice as a dedicated one, but it works very well. A little bit laggy, but definitely smooth & stable enough for reading & typing. I generally use it to keep whatever I am using less on (so if I'm writing a word doc, but also reading off another doc or pdf or emails, I'll keep the doc I'm writing on on the main MacBook screen, and put the material I'm reading from on the iPad.)
