Like 10 minutes ago when I was going to brush my teeth I by accidentally dropped my iPhone in the toilet. Everything seems to be working fine besides the speakers don't play music & it keeps asking me if I want to shut off my phone. I looked on other websites to see what to do and it said to check in the headphone hole to see if it was red and mine is. What should I do? Should I turn it off or will that make it worse? Does it need to be put in rice?
Turn it off, shake off as much water, put it in a bowl of rice to soak up the water for at least 24 hours. If it doesn't work if you have applecare call apple and explain.
Just in time for a new release! Sorry, I know how times like this feel. Rice has seemed to work miracles for some, and nothing for others. No hurt in trying!
What does a red headphone mean? First aid kit for wet iPhone is a bag of rice. Turn it off,put it in a bag of rice for a day or two and then turn it on again. If not, bring it to apple. Hopefully you have an applecare+. On the bright side, you now have a reason to buy a new iPhone.
AppleCare will deny warranty and probably ask him for $150 unless he has AppleCare Plus which then that'll be $75.
Why people don't put the lid down on the toilet is beyond me. It would stop things like this from happening in the first place, as well as germs spreading. Do you know that the toilet water can go as high as 6 feet in the air when flushing without the lid down? It also makes it convenient for a quick place to sit in the bathroom when not doing your business, without you having to put it down to sit. It will also help equalize the men vs. women toilet seat mantra. It did at my house at least. ..... Just in time for the iPhone 5??
Dropped mine in the urinal. Powered it off, dropped it in rice a few days, working fine after that. Sold it on CL a few months later.
Seriously. After seeing a video of a toilet being flushed with the lid open in a bathroom with a UV light, I realised how far that water actually travels. Since that day I've always put the lid down. Btw, I'm a guy, so the stereotype doesn't hold true for me. EDIT: I found a different video by Dr. Oz where he explains this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtCCwWY0Cu4&feature=player_detailpage#t=208s
Welcome to the club. Been there, done that. Of course so has Dane Cook, he has a very funny routine about it.
