I've been here for a long time. When I first came to this site, I was considering buying a top of the line 500 mhz powerbook, but had heard this site might have info on an update. Shortly thereafter, I started hearing other rumors and at that time, I decided I wanted a superdrive powerbook. Since then, the computers have increased in speed from 500 to 550 to 667 to 800 to 867 and now a gig. I waited and waited. (Patience is a virgin). Now, they have the superdrive.

So, drumroll please.

I just ordered:

PowerBook 1GHZ
SuperDrive
60GB Hard Drive
Airport Card
Airport Basestation
1GB Ram
AppleCare
.Mac
some sort of case (Brenthaven?)
10 gig iPod
extra battery
office x

Soon, oh so soon, I will no longer be an outsider here!

Oh, by the way, thanks BTTM.

Actually, I didn't ask. :)

I just did some brief math, and I think it's going to be around 42 or 4300. But that's not important, what's important is that it is a 1 ghz, 1 gig ram with superdrive!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhh ha hah ha ha ha ha aha

that is also the way i have been taught to think. its the best way in my opinion. i am a poorass college student, but i also know the value of more expensive things. why save a few bucks and settle, when you can be completely happy for a little (or a lot) more? it just dont make no sense!

There have been a lot of people on these boards saying Apple would have to lower its prices or put out some outrageously amazing machine for it to compete with Wintel. That isn't necessarily true!

I was willing to buy but wanted a specific combination of the best that Apple offered. I wanted all the iapps. I wanted a great screen. I wanted a big hard drive and lots of ram. I wanted a fast chip. Maybe not the fastest ever, but fast. And, most of all I wanted a superdrive and the ease of use Apple offered.

There are a lot of us willing to spend whatever it takes to get "the" combination of things we're looking for from someone other than Wintel.

That my friend is one of the most impressive Apple Store buys of the century. You will love it (when it actually gets there)!

Congratulations, mcrain!

Hope you enjoy your new TiBook as much as I've enjoyed my 800.

Of course, I may just have to upgrade and get that Superdrive... :D

Ah Grasshopper, but I did not purchase from the Apple Store.

If you wish to buy a computer, may I suggest talking with Backtothemac first.

The way to the mac is backtothemac.

Hey, I should copyright that. (flashback humor).

Congratulations. Man, over 4000 clams. Whew. Pressing the 'Buy Now' button must've been just orgasmic.
Why didn't you peruse eBay? Might've saved a couple bucks.
Anyway, that machine's going to be sweet. What other software do you plan to pack into it?

Honestly, I don't know. I really have no clue. This is probably about 50x more computer than I need, but hot damn, it sure is a hot machine.

Congrats Mcrain, you really deserve it. You must be the most patient person I know, I guess all those posts and rumor watching paid off:) Well at least you won't need to worry about buying a laptop for the next 4 years, that is one tripped out machine.

I'm sure mcrain won't need flam retardent pants, something tells me he has seen hotter things on his lap;) :) ;) ;)

Hey, thanks for the props mcrain! He got a really sweet system, and hooked the man up too ;)

There have been several people at Macrumors to buy from us, and mcrain is the most recent to do so. Teabgs can help you with the wait, as he waited 2 months for his dual 1.25 system.

oh, and patience is a virgin ;)

Congrats man. I waited over a year myslelf for the perfect machine for me, and I was just about settled on the iBook when the flatpanel iMac came out. Made me wonder for a few more months... and it also took time to persuade my parents. But, in the end, I got this wonderful, fast, small, and may I say, PERFECT iMac which is now sitting right in front of me.

Patience is a virgin.

I DON'T WANT TO WAIT TWO MONTHS!!! 3-4 WEEKS IS BAD ENOUGH!!!!

Actually, I've been so patient and kept my self control, that you would think I could easily wait a little longer, but damn, it feels like Prom night.
