Ok... well not really..

But here's a serious flaw in my book...

Last night I was out at the bar, talking to this girl, things were going well. Closing time I ask her for her number... pull out the phone..

goto contacts.. hit the + button...

Type in the number hit save... Type in her name and hit save.. I hit the "home" button, and head back to my house.

I look in my phone later that night.. and it didn't save!! WTF?

I realized that i needed to hit the "save" button a third time, and not only that... but there should be some sort of pop up box saying, are you sure you wish to discard this new contact.

End of Rant... Now i'll resume my lonely life...

go to the same bar tonight or next friday... if it was meant to be, you will see her again.

Easy solution. Call the number, and hang up after a few seconds. That way it will be in your recent calls and you can add it later.

Well, best solution is to look at the screen. If there's a "Save" option still there, which there is how you describe it, keep on hitting it. You should also confirm the add by either at least looking it up or calling it.

Here's why it didn't save. You created a new contact, which is kind of like creating a new file. You then created a new phone number, which you hit save on. You did the same with a name. You essentially saved changes you made to the contact file, but you didn't actually save the contact file. Confusing, yes. But it's not like there's a phone made that isn't confusing in some fashion.

Just remember to confirm that it's saved next time!

I've actually had this happen too, where I've created a new contact (and I'm absolutely SURE that I hit save etc), yet when I came to look for it at a later date, it wasn't there. It could be a bug.

i have them put the info in themselves... chicks dig the iphone. Then i make sure to save the info lol. No problems yet! *crosses fingers* (makes mental note)

guess it was not meant to be

I guess this is a hint from steve jobs the girl was not meant to be hahahaahahah

The lesson? Always send a text or a quick non-missed call to the other phone. You then know
1) You haven't been given the wrong number, either incorrectly or deliberately
2) Even if you lose the phone you can still get the number from the network

Yeah, I feel your pain. Next time do the idiot proof method. Just have her pull out her cell and dial your cell phone number. At least that why you eliminate the chance of putting in the wrong number or her giving you the wrong number on purpose. If you can't remember her name, than that would be your problem.

I watched you fumble to input the number last night. It was 215-618-1505.

That is sound sound advice.

My version is the best, although it happened to me it wasn't my idea, it was hers. She unbuttoned my shirt and wrote her number in lipstick on my chest! (no-one had a pen) I made sure I didn't shower when I got in :D and I then had to read it backwards in the mirror ;)
