    There goes the warranty ;)

"Important: Do not open the Apple Product. Opening the Apple Product may cause damage that is not covered by this Warranty. Only Apple or an AASP should perform service on this Apple Product".

Nice teardown. Warranty is not necessarily voided, unless Apple can tell the phone has been tampered with...that is a call made by the Apple genius at the bar, or servicer. Sent from my iPhone 5.

That's quite a bit of goop/tape holding the battery in. But I guess it could act as a thermal transfer medium to the case.

And, as in the Macbook Airs and Retina MBP, a structural stiffener, as it enlists the battery to contribute to the overall stiffness of the phone.

It's a cute trick, as it adds structural stiffness without adding weight.

I expect fewer "I bent my iPhone!" posts with this model.

Doesn't look as sexy on the inside as it does on the outside

    Actually, no it's not. It's a space gray 5s.

The side looks slate to me.

Ah, you're right. I see the touch id. Odd angle I suppose.

    Whoops
