There were some memorable photos that I've taken on the iPhone 4, but it's locked and I don't remember the 4 digit pin. What can I do to recover the songs that were in there and the photos too?

Doesn't Photos open when you plug it in to the Mac? Or maybe Image Capture to import them.

If you haven't previously synced it with iTunes it will still need the pin code. If you have a Mac setup on the same iCloud ID it might sync photos across to Photo's??

Does that work even when you don't know the PIN?

If it's been synced with iTunes on that computer before, it should be fine. I've never had to unlock my phone to sync or back it up with iTunes.

Image capture on the mac should work either way I would think. Again never unlocked my phone to use image capture.

Just plug it in and try it and see what happens.
