Hi everyone! I made GifJot.
I made it because I kept needing to show a small bug or workflow, and a screenshot wasn’t always enough. GifJot lets you select part of your Mac screen, record it as a GIF or capture it as a PNG, and then paste the result into another app.
This public beta is free and currently focused on Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.
Everything is processed locally. There’s no account, upload, telemetry, advertising, or watermark. GifJot requires Screen Recording permission so it can capture the area you select.
I’m looking for feedback on:

Bug reports: https://github.com/jamkoo/gifJot/issues
Private feedback: hi@gifjot.com
I’ll be here to answer questions and follow up on problems.

I’m looking for feedback on:
- Installation and first launch
- Screen Recording permission
- GIF and PNG capture
- Pasting into different apps
- Retina, external, and multiple-display setups
- Anything that feels confusing
