My best friend is getting married next month and I'm supposed to plan the bachelor party. Being neck-deep in medical school means I don't have hours and hours to sit around and think up stuff.

Could you guys help me brainstorm some ideas? We won't be doing anything "too crazy". I just need ideas for a guy who wants to have "an adventure".

    This is what I've got:

    Sky Diving
    Gun range
I'd like to be able to rent a corvette, but figure that'd cost me a fortune.

If you can think of other stuff to do, please let me know!

Get drunk and shoot some pool. Make sure somebody is a designated driver. :)

I had the same problem back in April. It was time to throw a bachelor party for a friend of mine. Well we were all about four hours from a river boat casino/hotel and we stayed in like a best wetern suite and had transportation to the casinos and partied hard, I won an ass load of money, and put it towards the new imac I'm writing this thread on. That and the nudie bars were good too. :D

    Two words:

    Steak and titties (actually three).

(more) seriously, what is your friend like? What does he enjoy? Also, how many of you will there be and what kind of time and budget do you have? Where do you all live in Alabama?

I might be easier to give suggestions with answers to those questions. I'll check back...

Damn, you can say titties but not shed on this forum?

But yes, lots of naked T&A and BEER.

for my best friend's party, we mixed pool, paint ball, and beer. He didn't want the T&A fest, so we respected that....which really sucked for us :p

    Houston, TX..... (keep walking)
Go race car driving at your local speedway (that is before the beer intake) ... Or go to the airport and choose a really last minute destignation, hop to a mystery place for the weekend (with out telling the bachelor beforehand of course)

    Mine was fun:

I was treated to dinner by my best friend/best man at a favorite restaurant - just the two of us. Then the two of us went to a topless bar for drinks and, uh, entertainment :D followed by a keg party at his house with (not kidding) roughly 200+ friends, and a stripper. :)

I remember everything really well up until about 45 minutes into the keg party. Everyone else tells me I had a great time. :D

Skip the titties and beer thing. You are in med school and need every brain cell you can spare. Besides, wives have ways of finding out about the bad behaviour. Not the best way to start a honeymoon/marriage.

For one of my buddies batch-party, I planned a whitewater rafting trip down the Chattooga River. For another, some of us got together and did a section of the Appalachian Trail. Another involved running the Peachtree 10K roadrace in Atlanta, with thousands of other people, it was a blast.

For another we did the beer thing. Yawn.

Guess which one we enjoyed/remember the least.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The wedding is actually in Oklahoma City. I moved to Birmingham last year to start medical school. I asked my friend about what he wants us to do...and all he said was "have an adventure". I think he pretty much likes anything. The camping idea is great. He'd probably really like that. Our budget isn't huge. I can probably spare more than the groomsmen. I'd say our budget is probably about $300. Kind of small, I imagine. What do most bachelor parties cost? I figured a girl and a giant cake isn't cheap.

sjjordan...if you are all going to be in Oklahoma City and have access to a car, I might suggest going to Austin TX. It is a little under 400 mile away (about six hours). If you have never been, you can:

    A) Go to sixth street, with about 100 bars to choose from right next to each other.
    B) Go swimming/hiking in the Hill country/West hills
    C) Go tubing in San Marcos, another 25 minutes south of Austin.
    D) Enjoy Town lake (canoeing, walking) in the middle of town...also swim at Barton Springs, a huge spring-fed Natural swimming pool.
    E) Enjoy some classy T&A Bars (mostly topless-only)
    F) Go camping/day-hiking/climbing at Enchanted Rock (out of town)
It is an excellent town. I lived there for many years, and if you have never been I highly recommend it.

If you are interested, I can give you more specific directions/information and recommend a great hotel.

A couple of days there should be only a little above your stated budget.

Sorry I keep leaving out details. The Austin, Texas idea is great, except the plot thickens...The party is only on a Thursday. I fly in wednesday, party thursday, relax and rehearsal dinner Friday, Wedding Saturday. I know the party is usually the night before, but it works out best this way.
we'd probably lose some time driving that far down to Texas. Think it'll be too cold to do any jet skiing, boating?

    what happened to me..

about 2 weeks before my wedding, i went with my wife to pick up a friend of hers at the airport. while we're waiting for her friend, there is a tap on the window which turns out to be my best friend...my wife pops the trunk open which surprisingly has my packed luggage and passport in it.

an hour later i'm in the air on my way to cabo san lucas for a wild weekend with my buddies. being kidnapped was cool.

    what i'd do:

from OKC ( or "the city" as they call it there), i'd take southwest airlines to vegas...get all of his buddies on the flight and come back the next day. party on the planeride there, take taxis everywhere in vegas and sleep on the plane home. no hotels, no luggage, no hassels.

I helped plan one in the Twin Cities for a friend and we ended up renting a party bus and went bar hopping, both clean and titty bars...Since we were allowed to drink on the bus, it was the most cost effective. I think it ran about $50/guy not including "gratuity"

My brother got married this summer and his best man threw him a tool party.

A bunch of us went to a baseball game (Mariners and they actually won  )
Then back to a friends house for a bbq and a no-limit Texas Holdem tourney.
For gifts we all got him various tools (no man can have too many tools) no wrapping paper was allowed, if you wrapped your gift you got mocked.

Not the most exciting party maybe but it was fun. You could always exchange the ball game with paintball or something more suited to your tastes if you wanted.
