    Example of syllogism:
Bill O'Riley argues that Muslims should not be allowed to build a mosque at ground zero because the terrorists who bombed the Twin Towers are Muslims. He generalizes terrorism to all Muslims. Syllogistically his argument looks like this:

Premise 1) All Muslims are terrorists.

Premise 2) Terrorists should not be allowed to build a mosque at ground zero
Conclusion: Therefore, Muslims should not be allowed to build a mosque at ground zero.

    My assignment:

Identify 3 arguments advanced by public figures and state the arguments. Next, take the arguments and structure them into one of the syllogistic forms.

I figured politics were the best place to look for arguments that could be translated into syllogisms. Does anyone have any examples they would care to share? I can also use any examples from religion and social issues, but they need to have a public figure driving them.

Premise 1: We should be allowed to kill animals for eating them.
Premise 2: All whales are animals.
Conclusion: Therefore, we should be allowed to kill whales for eating them.
