Basically the same place that had thrown out the Powerbook 520 also threw out those other machines. So now they're at my job waiting for me to take home (I can take the portrait monitor home by myself (I'm on foot) since it's not much of a problem for me to lug 35 pounds of screen for half a hour) but I'm gonna have to find a lift to carry the 60 pounds molar-shaped monstrosity back home where I can test it further! I assume it'll need a new cmos battery and thank god this one isn't soldered. It's the 266mhz model with the AV card too so it'd be nifty if this worked. Can that model record or is it crappy mode like the Macintosh TV where it only takes stills?

The one machine that won't turn up here (G3 AIO). Apple AU never sold them here. As a result I've always wanted one, but freight would be a killer.

Nice finds, hope they're both good, working examples for you.

To think there used to be a time when I couldn't even lift an eMac and now I can lug something that's nearly 10 pounds heavier than it.

Sure it's over a small distance but still! I'd never thought I'd find something heavier than an eMac though.

And holy crap you're not kidding, I calculated a rate on post canada's website for giggles and it'd cost $634.99 in shipping alone to send one to australia, that's insane! (that's canadian monies but still)

There they are, safe at home (along with the Powerbook 520 that I got the week before from the same spot)

Yes.

Short the power on signal to ground on the ADB port. Using a very thin paper-clip or short length of thin wire, short pins 2 & 4 momentarily.

Alternatively, at the front edge of the motherboard is a 3 pin connector (as well as some others). If you remove the rear PCI slot blank panels, you MIGHT be able to momentarily short these two pins to power up the machine. You could solder two wires there and run them out the back as a temporary measure.

Just curious, I got a Mirror Technologies full-page display and it has a vga port on it but there's no image when I plugged it into one of the computers at work, is it because it's monochrome and too old to be recognized by modern computers?

Without knowing it's specs, it's hard to say, but most 1bit (monochrome) full page displays only do one resolution and they're often at unique frequencies. They probably don't have DDC (which allows the display to be queried by the display card for supported resolutions).

These things used to be paired with a specific display card and/or drivers that knew which frequencies & resolutions to use.

Of course, the display itself may be faulty.

A model number or FCC-ID may help to identify what it's capable of.
