iPhone 16 Pro I predict the Camera control button will be gone in less than 3 years

I found the action button to be fairly useless but this thing is on another level of pointlessness.
Yeah… I don’t really care for it either. The screen works fine, and I don’t have to rebuild that muscle memory from the past 17 iPhones…
The action button is useless because Apple limits you to one designated action per press. I've been able to map up to 6 actions to the sleep button on my jailbroken devices.

would have been more useful if it had touch id integrated into the button.
I imagine they will build on it unless they remove it for space reasons. if they are trying to market it for pros for camera use they will want to keep it and improve it. they. can easily add more to it and let more commands be done with the action.

It’s in a bad location for that.
I have it set to launch a shortcut, and that shortcut is a menu with like 7 things that I found useful. So when hit my action button a menu with many actions pops out.
So far, it's something I don't see going away anytime soon. I already love zooming with it.
what a bunch of pessimists. Rumors of Apples buttonless iPhone and people complain. Apple gives people a programmable button and people complain. Apple adds a new button and people complain. It wouldn’t be the forums if people weren’t complaining.
I actually like the camera button. So far it seems nice, the swipe gesture is actually easier than I anticipated from the reviewers. I’m looking forward to a two stage shutter option when that is released. Ive been using the action button as a camera button on my 15 pro max, and having a dedicated camera button means I now can have the action button do something else!

It’s like the camera lenses used to be. Shows you have the latest iPhone.
So far, I’ve tried it a few times, kind of hard to get it to the zoom mode and I can’t get it to the mode that allows you to select styles, but it’s easy to take a pic. Overall it’s OK but not as intuitive as I thought it would be. But it’s only the first day so I’ll keep trying it but even my action button that I had mapped to the camera before I never ended up using, now that we have this button and it launches the camera now my action button is to launch the flashlight

It’s a feature I love and have been waiting for.
It feels way more natural and like a real camera than just pressing an icon on glass.
And just so you know, Sony Xperia phones have had that feature for a while since they’re focused on cameras.
I’m cautiously optimistic about it, it’s only day 1 and I have taken exactly one few second long skateboarding video. I wish zooming while filming was smoother/easier, I found that I have to swipe multiple times to get the full range of zoom which makes the footage choppy, if that makes sense. I want one swipe motion to take me from one extreme to the other instead of needing to readjust my finger to swipe again and finish zooming in/out. The way it is now kind of defeats the reason I was excited for the camera control button—seamless zooming.
I honestly do not understand the hate for the camera button… When I think about it, I would love a physical button to click to take pictures. I know you can use the volume button, but it is awkward to hold the phone and use it. When they add in the half press to focus, that would be nice too. I honestly don’t care much for the touch capacitive part of it. The videos I saw make it seem kind of awkward to swipe through it.
I usually take landscape pictures and videos and not having to go through a touchscreen to get to the camera sounds great

I see it as return of the ‘touch bar’. Besides, if it doesn’t pan out, they can always offer us new colors. 😵💫
