So I’ve been begging my parents to get me an iPhone for months, and they ended up giving me my dad’s old Droid instead. Then today I was walking home and I was making a call when I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk and dropped my phone. This is what it looks like now. I guess I’ll be getting my iPhone now! Lol

Wait...let me get this straight. Mommy and daddy give you a phone. You don't like the phone...no cache!

So you trip and fall on a CRACK IN THE SIDEWALK (!!!!), and now mommy and daddy are supposed to buy you a nice, expensive iPhone 5???

    It's a funny time to be a kid...

I hope they downgrade you to a flip phone. The entitlement of kids these days is unreal

Actually I just bought a flip phone, a retro Motorola StarTac. I was in France a couple of weeks ago when I came across a small store that refurbishes older phones. http://www.lekki.fr/en/10-motorola-startac Coolest thing ever right, I bought a blue one. :D

Come on, you guys never wanted something better than what you have? I don't have a job, so I can't afford the iPhone, but I get great grades and will be graduating high school this year. I need an iPhone!

And I did trip on a crack.

Aw, you're not being fair. I'm sure our young lad, instead of asking mommy and daddy for a new iPhone, is more than ready to get a job, earn the money to pay for his own phone, service contract, and monthly fees.

I'm sure he's not expecting mommy and daddy to pay for all that stuff. His behavior, as he describes it, shows that he ia an honorable lad.

    Right!!??

WHY do you NEED an iPhone? We all WANT an iPhone but WHY do you NEED an iPhone?

Wow. "Sense of entitlement" is a term thrown around a lot on MR, but this is one instance where it really applies.

Kid, you should have been thankful that they were willing to give you a smart phone in the first place, given that you don't have a job.

That being said, let us know how it turns out.

    :p

Agreed. Hope they see this thread as well, and only give you a lousy used flip phone with limited functions. :p

Is your name in your profile the correct one ? (JimReins95)

My iPhone got stolen a couple of weeks back.

    Here's what I got:

The iPhone 5 is expensive, there are other great choices out there. Make the money or reconsider your choice.

Of course I have wanted things better than what I have. So I worked to earn the money to have it. And if I couldn't afford it, I didn't get it.

Not having a job doesn't mean you can't get a job.

It's great that you are getting good grades in school. But does that mean that you should have some expensive electronic device?? I don't get the connection between getting good grades, and being given an expensive piece of electronics.

And as hard as it may be to believe...you do not NEED an iPhone 5, you WANT an iPhone 5. An important distinction that it would serve you well to learn.
