sorry if this is too much off topic but I'm really angry at myself...

we got our grades for the spring semester yesterday from my college in IA, and today I finally found time to check them online. these grades are important for my degree since I graduated at the end of may...

so far so bad, here comes the part that drives me nuts:

    - I had an overall GPA of 3,48 after J-term
    - I got a GPA of 3,514 this last semester...

...which leaves me with a final GPA of around 3,497

    :( :( :(

"cum laude" starts at GPA 3,5

o.k., I was able to add a nice US degree to my studies in Germany, but still...

I also lost eBay auctions on a newton 2100 and a SE/30... this day definitly sucks...

...I stop whining now and get myself a nice sixpack of Beck's, maybe that'll help ;)

    Let's hope they only use 2 decimals so you'll get an 3,50 ! :)

i believe they round up to 2 decimals, in which case you would have a 3.50... When I got my final transcript it showed only 2 decimals. I really didn't pay attention, since it was like 3.89. ...Not to brag or anything .... :D

A huge OUCH! there, underrated buddy.

My H.S., Pascack Hills, does the full 4 digits, 3.xxx.

Most places that incorporate the GPA do, anyways.

Oh, and your "cum laude" just went from "laude" to "quiet". :D

If you're going to drink to feel better, don't forget to have a Listerine strip once in a while. If it doesn't dissolve in your mouth immediately, you just met a woman named Listerine. :D

GPA stands for Grade Point Average. Basically they take your final grade in your classes, assign points to them and come up with an average. Grades in the U.S. are generally assigned letter grades according to the following:

    A 90 - 100 B 80 - 89 C 75 -79 D 70 - 75 (C & D depends on your school) F 69 or lower.

The grade point will assign something like 4 points to classes you get an A in, 3 points for a B, etc. That's all I can explain at this late hour. Hope that helped.

i remember freshman year at high school. they had like cum laude as 90-93 average, magna cum laude as 93-96, and summa cum laude as 97-100. i had a 92.496 average. and the f***ers gave me cume laude. i was pretty annoyed. but i left that stupid private school, joined a really good public one, and graduated top 10% with national honors and all sorts of good stuff. so going insane about it would have been useless. but i guess you are coming down to the wire there eh? good luck.

Luther College, right in the middle of nothing...

but it was nice nevertheless... different than going to German mass-university AND I shouldn't complain, since I got the B.A. degree after only one year (they transfered all my credits from Germany...)

Scem0, I like the smiley bashing the other one's head, LOL

    thanks guys :)
