More than one iPhone/iPod accessory maker has gone under due to Apple's swiftly shifting industrial designs. Even the slight change in the shape of the iPod Video vs the Classic meant doom for some accessories and their manufacturers, who designed, tooled, marketed, and finally distributed, only to have the design change before the first sale.

But if someone ever wanted to get in on the accessory market, the 3G iPhone is their ticket. With the latest speculation that Apple plans on selling 40 million units, even if the design changes in the next 12 months, you have a sustainable market for at least the next 24.
