Hey Mac people. I am pretty much a long time lurker - I read lots of the info here for my beloved mac products - of which I own quite a few.

I am looking to hire a programmer to write a very specific application for me, I have a healthy budget (I am no scammer) a specific direction and am ready to go.

Problem being I have not the slightest idea where to look (I know no one personally who is a programmer). All my google searches are leading me to generic spam sites.

Could someone please direct me on how I would start my search? A proven site? A forum? I don't want to sift through crappy people who are amatuers.

    Best Regards,
    The Sinner

I would check out some iPhone or mac applications you like, then contact the dev and see if they would do work on contract or can refer you to someone that will. Obviously Delicious Monster, etc. aren't going to ake the prject on, but others might.

Place to find developers for hire

There is odesk.com. Give it a try! Mod note: do not self advertise

    I would second this approach.

Programming is science and creativity combined which means there are different approaches to solve a problem.

Thank you all for your help. I apologize for not searching more thoroughly. As a power user in several other professional forums I know it is annoying when people re-post common topics. Perhaps this is worthy to place in your little stickies above.

If anyone else has a suggestion please post or PM me.

    Best,
    Sinner
