Hello everyone, I have a jailbroken iPhone 4S and I reset it but now it won't work anymore.
It won't go past the Apple logo when I turn it on and it reboots but the same thing still occurs. I've tried to reset it in recovery and DFU but no luck. Instead, I get the Error 48 message. I've also gotten a different error before but I cannot remember what error it is. Is there a way to fix this? Lately it seems like everyone else who did this (what I did) got the same error (which is error 48). :(

    Please help me!

Error 48 (or -48): Quit iTunes and discard the .ipsw file. Then, open iTunes and attempt to download again.

Under Mac OS X, these files are located at: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/

    You will lose your jailbreak.

OP has already lost his jailbreak.

Restoring or resetting your phone while jailbroken is a no-no unless you are trying to remove your jailbreak. The best course of action in that situation then is to put the phone in DFU mode, connect it to your computer and then allow iTunes to restore it.

OP. If you are trying to restore from an IPSW then you can't unless that IPSW is still being signed. If your hosts file is pointing somewhere other than Apple then this might also be a problem.

There are ways to restore and keep the same version of iOS now and ways to downgrade a 4s now, but those ways assume a functional jailbroken iPhone not one that is halfway between.

You'll have to restore, which means an upgrade to the latest signed version of iOS.

I have tried to restore and upgrade to the latest iOS version but no luck :c
Is there any other way to restore it? I've been told that iTunes probably won't restore the iPhone because they don't support jailbreaking. So I'm guessing I'll have to use a third party software to restore it....

LOL at whomever told you that!

    Jailbreaking is irrelevant to iTunes.

If you are getting errors it's either one of a few things. A hardware fault, your hosts file, trying to restore from an unsigned IPSW or a cable/computer/outdated version of iTunes. iTunes doesn't 'see' that you are jailbroken and then refuse to work.

I've restored from a jailbroken iPhone several times both on a PC and a Mac.

Try a different USB port, different cable, different computer, version of iTunes if it's none of the other things.

I've tried two different computers but it didn't work either. Thank you though.
