ok, when my G4 was in my backpack it fell out (bottom down) pretty hard, a restart brought it back to normal (thank god for SMS) and the latch broke... it still closes, i need to push harder, but the button doesnt have its springeness anymore, anyone know how much apple will charge to fix it?

as long as the machine need to be completely opened, it might cost a bit. this is the kind of thing you should maybe try to replace / fix yourself. you can maybe find the part at ebay.
The cheapest solution to your problem would be to buy a used topcase on ebay, yank the switch, and swap it yourself. It's a fairly painless process.
