I'm having a problem starting my iBook, it starts going through the startup process, then I get the message 'your computer must be restarted'.
How do I get past this?

How do I get past this?

if you have third party RAM remove it and keep only the Apple RAM in it.

if not boot off of the OS X CD and repair HD

Unfortunately I can't even get as far as being able to put the CD in.

So you don't have extra RAM then?

The computer doesn't have to be on to put the CD in AFAIK. Just push it in, press the power button and hold down C. Or is it an old tray-loading CD drive?

Yes, the old tray loading type. Is there a way of starting up in Safe mode, similar to a PC?
