iCal does it work better in Panther

Hi I use mail instead of entourge (sp) and started using iCal as well a while back but iCal doesnt "pop up" and remind me when its not open like the calander in entourge did... am I just doing something wrong, if not is it fixed in panther, or is there something else that I can do? thanks for the help

this feature already exists. you can set alarms to do a number of different things. popup messages, sound alerts, etc. you can even sync these with your iPod so that it will beep when an alarm is scheduled. it's all in there already. use the Info view in iCal.

I know its in there but do you have to have iCal running to do it because in entorague it didnt have to be running and your stuff would still pop up??
