One of the worst things about a brand-new OS release is that when someone has a problem, they are less likely to discover the solution to it on the internet, as was the case with this problem. So here is my solution, so that others do not suffer:
<i>Problem</i>: iChat sorts groups in an order not desired (whether because of previous group usage in AIM or otherwise)
<i>Solution</i>: None. However, the workaround is to number groups. Instead of naming your groups "Work" and "Friends" name them "1. Work" and "2. Friends".
This solution may seem painfully obvious, but just in case... it's a good solution!
