    Untill iCloud Drive lets you:

    1. Upload files from phone (like dropbox)
    2. Store anything and share (again, like dropbox)

    it will remain useless IMHO.

It baffles me that Copy to iCloud Drive doesn't show up anywhere in the share sheets like Copy to Google Drive or Dropbox or even iBooks does.. Currently the only path to get files INTO iCloud Drive on iOS is in the mail app when you tap and hold on an attachment there is a "save attachment" button in the share sheet. NO WHERE ELSE. No idea what they were thinking.. Thankfully I have a workflow that allows to save any file to iCloud drive

But you can store anything in iCloud Drive. I think you can only upload on the Mac, but you can store and view any files you want.

You are completely correct.. Its virtually identical to dropbox for example.

I'm baffled by the lack of native app support which would glue things together much easier, for example in Photos I can't upload or download photos/videos to or from Drive........

Honestly, I think Apple made the app optional on the home screen because all of the features they want to add aren't ready yet, but they wanted to give people something. I think iOS 10 will have more iCloud Drive features.

You can upload to iCloud drive from icloud.com, a Mac or a PC. What I find baffling is what most of you have already stated. Why isn't a copy/upload to iCloud drive a native sharesheet option? The heck Apple. Fix this.

iCloud does not interest me so much for common file sharing. It doesn't surprise me it's botched being that this is the first iteration and introduction of it on iOS (as an app). Maybe it will get better over time, but until Apple introduces more free space I will not be interested. Right now I have unlimited storage with my University with Google which has been fantastic.
