    iDVD / DVDSP/Soundtrack Pro - Royality free music/themes etc.
To save a bit of time, was planning on taking a idvd/dvdsp an dusing it for some dvds which will be sold commercially - is the music/themes royalty free? i know the themes are, but what about the music in a dvd them menu?

Is there a good site for free royalty music?

    cheers

Wavtracks is a good price. US$60 for 800 tracks (quite a few are 15 sec/30 sec/3 minute variations of the same track) if you select the "MP3 on a single DVD" option and there's a whole selection perfect for transitions.

The licence agreement says (amongst other things):
Synchronization Rights: The right to use the music as a soundtrack 'synced' with visual images as part of your production • You have the right to synchronize the audio content from any Wavtracks Royalty Free Music product (without any further payments) with audio and/or visual productions or applications such as film & video productions, training and marketing presentations, corporate videos, radio presentations or commercials, television presentations or commercials, web pages, multimedia presentations, interactive programs, computer games, audio-visual or computer generated displays (hereinafter referred to as "the Production") • You may create unlimited copies of the Production

Unless they specifically say they are in the Public Domain, no.

As for royalties, check the licence that came with the CDs.

Nothing in the docs I can see.

    Write to these guys:

Do you really want a commercial DVD you've made (and hope to sell) going out with theme music supplied by the basic software package?

I realize the poster above me did a little thread resurrection, but I wanted to point out that I recently picked up SmartSound SonicFire Pro and I'm quite impressed. There's a free version of the software to try out. It basically can recut the music to any length you want and a variety of moods and variations. There was a sale on music albums at $33 each that ended a few days ago, but by the sounds of it, the music goes on sale frequently.
