visited macfixit and discovered IE 5.2 released - installed it very painlessly and have to say it is very snappy. Uses quartz so suppose to look better (can't see it myself but then again I trust m$ implicitly!!!). Here is the guff:

With Mac-first innovations_— such as Internet Scrapbook, which lets you collect pictures, receipts, and more_— Internet Explorer makes the Web easy and fun. And perhaps best of all, it's free!

This latest version_— version 5.2_— provides all the latest security and performance enhancements for Internet Explorer_5 for Mac_OS_X and a new home page_— http://www.msn.com_— for Internet Explorer. I was using it for along time last night (mainly browsing these forums :)) and to be honest, appart from the QE text smoothing I found no difference what so ever.
In speed, or anything else :(
