I have multiple chargers at my house, from old iPhones and iPads - some of which I've bought myself and some of which were provided by my employer (they don't ever want anything back when it's written-off after 3-years).

I also have many many extra chargers, mostly Anker, with 2 / 3 / 4 ports or USB-A / USB-C combos etc etc, so the number of chargers has kept growing whilst the number of devices remains fixed as they're traded-in or sold on etc. Some households may be operating on strictly one in / one out, but I doubt they're the majority.

At Apple-scale (hundreds of millions of units) it cannot not be a good thing for the environment if they ship smaller boxes with less plastic in them. Fewer planes, smaller trucks, less production, reduced energy. There are additional chargers going to stores separately, but the net number has to be smaller.

Upon until iPhone 11 Pro, Apple has never included fast charger, even though my 180 dollars Moro E comes with 10W chargers.

For most people coming from older generation of iPhone, they gonna have to buy 20W fast charger if they want take advantage of fast charging.

I suspect most of people will end up buying 20W charger anyway.

How many less charger is still upon debate and more data needed. For now, I don’t think it will be much less.

You gonna have to ask yourself, how many of your charger at your home are fast charger and how many are 5V 1A crappy chargers that comes with iPhone (Even iPhone 11). If Apple really cares about environment like they claims to be, they should packing fast charger with iPhone 8 and iPhone X (iPhone 8 and iPhone X were first iPhone USB PD fast charging capable).

The prices of the iPhones stayed the same, you do realize that right?!  included mmWave and Sub-6 5G across the entire lineup without increasing the cost. Show me an Android phone that did that.

Sʌᴍsᴜɴɢ increased the prices of all their phones significantly and watch when Sʌᴍsᴜɴɢ does this which they will I’m sure their phones will still increase in price but they won’t pass the savings along to us either.

iPhones added all kinds of technology and other improvements basically year all along without dropping accessories to make up for it.

they just won't - "most people" can't tell you what model they have, let alone the benefits of fast charging or their charger wattage.

I mean, I just went to get Pixel 4A, after I got iPhone SE few months ago (I now have iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE x2, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 x2, so don't call me Android fanboy).

I mean, Apple went on say smaller packaging means lesser shipping volume means lesser carbon footprint as reason for not including charger. Yet Google managed to have smaller box than iPhone 11 and include fast charger and USB C cable.

So why not? I am not buying whole environmental arguments. Apple is still producing crap load of chargers regardless and these chargers will end up in the landfill anyway.

It is not like iPhone is any cheaper, it is still as expensive as before (I mean I can grab 2 Pixel 4A with iPhone 12's price).

Apple should have include charger.

Who said they can’t. Maybe they just don’t want to.

So you are complaining about a $20 charger not being included and not about paying over $1000 for a phone? Doesn't make any sense to me. This is just as silly as people paying $50 for a case that costs less than $1 to make.

Yes. Especially when 180 dollar phone include a charger that charges faster than what 1000 dollar phone includes and now does not.

And I am not paying 50 dollars for a case. It is excessive. The most I paid for a case is 5 dollars.

Well. I think most people should do some research when shelling our 1K for something.

Well, at least I do.

Well if the lack of a $20 charger bothers you that much, don't buy the phone. Griping for the sake of griping is pointless. Either do something about it by not buying the phone, or quit griping.

Well. I am not going to buy the phone. I got iPhone SE and iPhone 11 and now I flipped the iPhone SE to Pixel 4A. I don’t see the reason for iPhone 12 anyway.

Creating a thread to complain even though you have no intentions of buying is nothing more than click bait. I remember when people came to this forum to find useful information. Now its becoming more and more filled with people complaining before the product has been released.

I see nothing wrong with healthy discussion. Valid points raised on both sides in this thread.

Why not. Is there a rule forbidding complain?

If by your logic, then this forum shouldn’t be exist.
Because it was nothing more than a click bait complaint thread because you had no intention of buying. You literally came to the forum to create a thread where you could whine.

You are welcome to not look or read thus type of thread.

And up until then, I was interested buying iPhone 12.

However, after purchase Pixel 4A, I lost that interest.

I love technology. I usually buy 3-4 phones a year (and sell bunch to recoup some money). This year I have brought iPhone SE (*2), iPhone 11, Pixel 4A.

So you are complaining about I am complaining. And you are welcome not to click.

If there is a rule forbidden what I am doing, I will apologize and delete the thread. But I am not aware of that.

So it is within my rights to create a thread.

How is it a healthy discussion? Apple said they would include no charger. People knew this before purchasing. It's one thing if you ordered the phone only to find out after you get it that there is no charger. That would be a valid complaint and worthy of discussion. But to create a thread complaining about something that Apple gave you ample warning before purchase, is just complaining for the sake of complaining. That is not a healthy discussion.

I believe the OP is debating Apple’s decision to go with no charger. Not just a simple complaint. Apple does things that I do and do not agree with. What’s wrong in discussion?

Apple is bragging about how they love environment and the very reason they decide not to include a charger because they love environmental. They goes on say smaller package means less carbon footprint, everybody has charged already so we are not going to include a charger.

But, Google is able to make a package smaller than iPhone 11, yet include a fast charger. And Apple created a new 20W charger so people can purchase separately.

I mean, if Apple really really love environment, shouldn’t they think about long term? Why the hell Apple throwing slow charger into every iPhone box beside iPhone 11 Max?

For years, people who want take advantage of fast charger have to purchase a separate faster charger along with USB C-lightning cord. How is this any helping to environment?

Now, people with older generation of phones, like iPhone 7 or before, who does not have fast charging capabilities, when they upgrade to iPhone 12, they probably will need to buy the fast charger anyway.

To me is very clear, Apple should have include FAST charger this year or probably next year. So everyone have at least one fast charger. Then they can ditch the charger.

I don’t buy Apple’s reasoning nor appropriate a 1K plus phone doesn’t come with at charger when sub 200 dollar phone does.

I suspect this same thing is going to be done by other manufactures, maybe as soon as next year. Apple removes the headphone jack, what happens other manufactures do the same thing.

You created a whole thread about the Pixel 5 having a small box but still containing a charging brick

Looks like a regular sized box to me... Your whole thread is based on something you made up.

Then you go on and say that you can pick up 2 Pixel 4A phones for the price of an iPhone 12. The Pïxel 4A is a budget device, I can pick up 7 Samsung A2 phones for the price of an iPhone 12. Will I do that? Hell no, I want a fast phone that will last me for years.
