if I buy a Macbook Air and use it for few months, what happens to the AppleCare+ when I give it to someone else?(a relative)

can the plan be transferred to his/her Apple acct?(or is that even necessary?)

Thanks!

The plan can be transferred or you can cancel and get a pro-rated refund. Not sure what happens with the month to month option.

Month-to-month AC+ coverage just goes away when you stop paying...

that's actually what I was wondering.... if I choose to pay for AppleCare+ annually until canceled($69 per year) and the Macbook Air is returned to factory default and logged in with another person's Apple ID, will it still bill AppleCare+ to me next year?(which I don't mind... just want to make sure the coverage does not get interrupted)

that's what confuses me.... if I give it to a relative and he logs into the Macbook Air with his Apple ID permanently, does the coverage end and I'll no longer be billed? Or will I keep getting billed(fine by me) and when something goes bad with the Macbook Air, I'll be the one to contact Apple to arrange for repairs under AppleCare+(again, also fine by me)?

Thanks!

Transfer the AppleCare+ two year plan to the relative and he or she can extend it at the end of the 2 years, if so desired.

Apple rep keeps telling me that they can't guarantee the ability to extend/renew AppleCare+ when the existing is about to expire. They say it's unlikely that Apple will change the policy to disallow this, but they just can guarantee it... so if someone wants to have AppleCare+ "forever", he/she needs to sign up for it with the annual pay option($69/year) which cannot be cancelled except for non-payment.(or cancelled voluntarily by the customer)

Apple isn’t going to do away with the ability to pay month to month after the initial 2 year AC+ runs out. Transfer AC+ and leave it to your relative to deal with in whatever way, after the 2 years. No need to make this process complicated.

Come to think of it, when did Apple start allowing 2-year AppleCare+ to be renewed on a month-to-month basis? They didn't allow it back in 2016 or 2017 when my old Macbook Air back then expired.... 2 month later, the logic board crapped out and required $500 to replace.(even unauthorized independent repair shops like Rossmann and others quoted me $400 or more for the repair) :(
