I don't think the keyboard will shrink at all, they have the space to reduce slightly the computer itself without reducing the size of the keyboard. We shall see

the only space there is is used for the (already small) speaker grills ..I just don't see where you can see it not getting reduced

If you look at how the MacBook 12 inch was engineered, the speakers were moved to the top of the keyboard, and that allowed to deliver almost the same sized keyboard than a 13 inch laptop. I don't know if Apple will go this way for the next MBA, but they did do it in the past.

I'm sure Apple will find a way to deliver a MacBook Air without big compromises. Maybe they will not move the speakers at all and just shrink them a little bit to fit with the computer body. I also love big trackpads and hope they will keep it the same size!

sorry I wasn't always talking about speakers only, but the fact that the redesign points out to a full size keyboard like the new MBP ,which makes sense to me ...so bigger fn keys on an even smaller body (+speakers potentially) that's gonna make a **** small trackpad don't u think

haha ye ,only compromise might be the price I reckon

I think it would lose less than an inch, maybe less than a half inch. I got really used to the 11" MBA, and the current Air is about the same width. I never find the width to be a problem, it's the depth that makes it less portable to me. I found more places I could use the 11" than the current Air. You can carry it under your arm easier, and it was just a nicer size and weight for me.

I think the time of pushing the envelope on laptop size is over. It'll probably get thinner and shrunk a little bit, but probably no radical designs like the 12".

What they did with the MacBook Pros was to make the screen taller to incorporate the notch, keeping the depth of the body large enough so the trackpad could stay a decent size.

The way Apple is going points to it getting bigger, the iMacs got thinner and the MacBook Pros got fatter.
