We need another Siri gimmick thread.

I see all these iPhone 4 users with buyer's remorse telling you how Siri is a gimmick and see no actual use for it, but at the same time they're going crazy for not getting Siri on their phones. They are literally contaminating Twitter and other social networks with stuff about Siri ports etc.

"WHEN IS YOUR PORT FINISHED LOL?!? WILL IT HAVE APPLE CONNECTIVITY WTF YOU ARE FAKE **** GIVE US SIRI!!!11"

Admit it, all you're gonna ask from Siri is 'who is your daddy' or other "supposed-to-be-funny" unimaginative question and then you will never use it again.

I don't have an iPhone, but Siri was tempting for me because I drive quite a lot and itd be nice to have a hands free device that actually understands me most of the time.

even something as simple as "dial mum mobile" is hit and miss with the galaxy s2's crappy vlingo software.

I need siri for my calculus. Has anyone tried using siri for math? How accurate is it?

Because you don't realize Siri is a gimmick until you use it.

It only looks fun when you don't have it and see other people using it.

Not a gimmick. It is the fastest way for me to access contacts, create reminders with time-aware reminders, and write out messages.

Why? Because Apple is good at marketing.

I have used Siri multiple times, and sure, it's fun to say some stupid things and listen to the response. And sure, it's nice to see how this technology has advanced in the past few years, but it's certainly not faster than actually opening an app and quickly type a text message for example (unless you are really slow in typing).

The only really useful time, is when you are driving for example (and even than it's the question why you just couldn't finish the trip).

Siri Was Nit

My main reason for buying the 4S (the camera and the CPU upgrade were) But having said that, I do find it useful for email, texts etc. when I can't use the keyboard.

Gimmick? maybe 59% yes, but a useful one nonetheless.

It's such a gimmick Google is now trying to copy it. People are using it to text/read text while working out, and driving. They hacked it for home automation. In the future it could run all kinds of apps.

I use Siri to text while driving. I don't care if it's a gimmick, I rarely use it but when I do I appreciate that it does what I need it to do most of the time.

You do not need Siri to text while driving. A good Android will do that. Heck the Nexus puts it up on the screen AS YOU TALK, instead of you having to wait while Apple digests what it thinks you said:p

Doesn't siri also gives you steps by steps explanation including the answer?

Like you'll take the time to learn from those step....I believe they use wolfram alpha to come up with the answer, and you don't need siri to use wolfram. You can buy the app and type your problem in there.

yeah, I'll stick with my iPhone.
