If there was a shooting outside the club you were supposed to go to, would you still go!?

Well I'm supposed to go only about 1 week after the shooting and was thinking I should cancel?

Is it a violent crime prone club?

I mean the surrounding area is definitely ghetto and there's crime but this area the club is in is only kind of ghetto but I don't think there's much crime.

There's a video of the shooting on Twitter and I saw it and I'm just in shock right now. I don't know what to do. I've been to this club before a lot.

Then don’t go. You will think about it to the point the fun is gone.

I doesn't matter where you think you're safe. There's always going to be something bad that eventually happens. I say live a little and don't worry. Life's too short to worry about such things. When it's your time to go, it's your time to go.

To be honest it seems you're not really safe from guns going to school in the US, so you should be used to it by now.

Is the joke here that hopefully there would be another shooting and he would get shot?

Honestly, I don't go to clubs anyways but I'd think a bit about a place after such an event. It would really make a difference if it was a one time issue or if the place was constantly experiencing violence.

    "Ghetto"?

I take it this is a euphemism, meant to describe the race and/or social class of the people who live there.

As an aside, I've decided to stop using words like "Hillbilly"; "Redneck"; "White Trash." I don't think they are helpful, or even particularly accurate terms. Using phrases like that simply serves to reinforce racial and ethnic stereotypes. All Americans are worthy of my respect and support.

You should feel free to use whatever terms you want.

As for me: I prefer to say what I mean, and mean what I say. If a neighborhood or area of a city is populated by persons of a particular race or ethnicity, and one feels that is somehow germane to the discussion, then say so. If one believes that an area is beset by street crime and illegal drugs, then say so. But as far as I'm concerned, I try to be wary of using code words to do the dirty work of conveying my prejudices onto other people.

Happy to disappoint. I'm sure it won't be the last time.

You guys are taking the OP too seriously. He/she/it has like 125 threads starting with ‘Should I buy this? Should I buy that?’

But isn't that what ghetto means. Beset by street crime and drugs. Doesn't really mean black or Hispanic

I usually try to avoid neighborhoods that increase my chances of getting shot/killed. I don't care how fun the bar is.

I didn't take him too seriously, but got spanked for my brand of humor.

    You just can't win sometimes.

But what if you're driving around in your sweet Mercedes with a "10" and she wants to go dancing at the hottest club?

Whoa, using "gay" casually like that is offensive to many folks I know
