Pie in the sky

Immediately give 1/4 to some of my favorite charities, spread another 1/4 around friends and family, quit my job and spend the rest on property, set up a design business...

Oh and buy some Macs, I guess.

Don't dream about money, make it instead. ;) :)
Good quote :)

But if I had that money I would give a lot of it to charity. I'm not the kind of person who would have to have the best of everything (cars, people, other items). The one thing that I would like to have is a very nice house. Having a private jet and all those other toys just wouldnt do it for me.

EDIT: I forgot about my yaught. :D
EDIT: And Travelling.

I'd put $1 billion in treasuries, another $1 billion in stocks, and perhaps $250 million in a trust fund for worthy causes, and the rest on an opulent lifestyle.

A plush place and a plush yacht in Monaco, that I only ever bother to visit once a year for the GP :D

Aston Martins, lots of them...

An island off of New Zealand, with a fairly big house...another yacht :p

A penthouse in every major city in the world.

I'll make edits as and when I think of anything else :D

You know what I would do if I had three billion dollars? I would invest half of it in glorious mutual funds and take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities.

I'd prefer it in £ rather than $ but eh, can't have everything :)

I'd definately give some to all my relatives so they are very comfortable and dont need to worry, then give some to worthy charaties like cancer research, debra and some others. Then spend some on me:

I love so many cars i'd buy them all:
Aston Martin DB9, Aston Martin V12 Vanquish S, Bentley GT Continental, Jaguar XKR as a little run-around, NEW TVR 400bhp Sagaris!

I'd buy a stately home somewhere nice big and ye olde worlde style classy non of this pre-fab rubbish

Invest in companies to do with medical instrumentation that supply the NHS etc, lots of money to be had in that.

Set aside money so all my nieces, nephews and siblings could attend the college of their choice.

Buy a house on the beach in California.

I think that should cover the 3bn. ;)

Buy a maxed out 2.5 GHz G5 with a 30 " apple display along with a maxed out 17" powerbook for travel.
One Aston Martin DB9.
One Omega Seamaster Professional timepiece.
One ticket to MacWorld San Fransisco, just to hear "One more thing".
A house somewhere nice along with a summer house by the coast.
Open up a pitch and putt course with my friends and live out the rest of my days leading an incredibly relaxed life.

I'd put some cash away for my god daughter for when she grows up and i'd also give my sister and my parents a few million. The thing i'd love to see the most , is my dad being able to retire early before he reaches 50 cos he's spent his life so far working really hard.
After that i'd invest in something low risk but with enough interest to give me a nice weekly income.
Next come the charities such as our local shelter for the homeless.
I'd donate some cash to disease research and be open to other suggestions.

Immediately start questioning everyone who’d been anywhere near my piggy bank in the last week, I want the other half back or I’m calling the cops!

Seriously, I’d see my family right and then buy an island off New Zealand, (we’ll be neighbours edesignuk!) a couple of places at home and probably a place on Maui. Various cars / motorbikes / bikes / boats / toys etc. Then I’d employ an architect to sort out a few run down areas I know. Put the rest in the bank to live off the interest while running a coffee shop for pleasure not profit. There's also a couple of firms I've worked for I'd buy and sack a few people who've got it coming.

Mac since 7.5
• My wife gets to give 10% to her church.
• Serious trust funds for our kids and their kids yet to come.

• New homes for our moms.
• A nice distribution of funds to close friends and relatives.
• The Mother Of All Road Trips (three years ought to do it)
• The Mother Of All Home Theatre Rooms (one in each house, of course)
• The Mother Of All Mac set-ups
• New PowerBook G5's for all my friends at MR (I bet I'd suddenly have a lot more friends)
• Personal disk golf course.
• 40 car garage, and the intent to fill it.
• Our own design studio/coffeee house/book store/internet cafe/pool hall/concert venue/video arcade.
• Porcupine Tree, echolyn, and Marilyn Manson playing at my next birthday party.
• A fresh box of #2 pencils, and some cheese (can't have this much money and not be a little eccentric).

Plenty of money for my friends, family and favourite charities.
$1bn to fight AIDS, cancer, aid for the poor and downtrodden.
Go into space.
Start my own company - design/architecture, film, computing, etc, etc.
A little plastic surgery (my nose); get my teeth fixed.
Build my own town, modelled on "New Urban" principles (like Seaside, FL - the setting for The Truman Show).

I'd be completely overwhelmed with $3 billion. Probably wind up giving a lot of it away, though somewhere in the fray do a few things:

* Pay off my debts and school loans, do the same for my partner and my mother.

* Buy houses for various folks in my life.

* Philanthropy - set up a donor-advised fund somewhere and give away lots of money.

* Travel, get some new clothes, have some fun and a real vacation.

* Buy a set of new Macs (a PM for sound editing and a Mini as a Web server).

* Set up a trust fund so I don't have to work a 9-5 anymore.

* Build my own ceramics studio.

* Poach a few of the R&D types from Intel and the other big companies and have them build me a lightsaber.

I'm sure there's more, but that's what comes to mind right now.

visiting from downstream
  • Pay off the mortgages and car loans of everyone in my immediate family. (Or buy a house for those who are renting, i.e., my brother.) Basically, eliminate all our debt.
  • Education trust fund for my nephew (and for any other nieces or nephews who might come along) for private schooling, college, and whatever further education they may pursue.
  • Dream house for myself (everything custom). (I could do an entire post on just this one subject.) Plus a swanky condo here in downtown Charlotte.
  • Audi Le Mans quattro.
  • Set up a fund (prob. $1B or more) not to be touched, for me to live off the interest.
  • Charitable donations as I see fit.
  • Donate works of art to museums.
  • Travel to all of the places I've wanted to visit, on all seven continents.
  • Pay for a hotshop to be built here in Charlotte, and learn how to blow glass.
  • Buy a seat on Virgin Galactic.
  • Minority interest in the Carolina Panthers, the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Baltimore Orioles.
  • Perform random acts of kindness for strangers that I see need help.

Buy the struggling Krispy Kreme and a well known weight loss company.

So I can make money getting people fat, and make money off them once they do get fat.
