Re: iMac 333 and Jaguar

Jaguar will run smoothly on my Mac or not?

Well, it runs alright on my PowerBook G3 400mhz (100mhz bus) with 256mb of RAM and 10GB of HD space. I have 10.2 on my iMac 233/196/30 and it runs pretty sluggish. Do you already run OS X on it? If so I guess it couldn't hurt to try to run 10.2 on it. In my opinion OS 9 will always run faster than OS X for another 2 years or so. Hope this helps some.

I have that exact computer running with Jag and 160 Megs of RAM
and it is bearable. Different people have different opinions of what
bearable is, but you won't be pulling out your hear with frustration
or anything like that. It will just be kinda slow. What can you
expect from a rev D classic iMac? ;)

I have a PowerBook Lombard 333Mhz with 256MB of RAM so mine is almost the same as yours.

Things to speed things up:

Shadow Killer
Use a theme without transparencies.
Get the ATI Rage Pro hack for your video card it works wonders on Quicktime acceleration - you can actually watch movies again!

It is slow - benchmarking using XBench only shows a 29/100 against a dual 800Mhz. Some networking features are faster especially if you use command line apps.
