graphite clamshell
(headless)
quad-core
at least 4 GB RAM
x4500 graphics
can support two HDs
one optical drive

essentially it's a dream Mini with an eSATA drive,
or it's a mini-tower

either way it's like $1k

Why on earth would you want a new iMac design?

This is the same as those who want a new Macbook Pro design. It hasn't been updated in a while therefore we must change it. We'll be the first to bitch about it though when we realise the new design is worse than the last.

What are you talking about? The iMac just had a redesign less than a year ago. The Powerbook/Macbook Pro hasn't had a redesign in five years and there are serious issues with the design. It doesn't have enough USB ports for a Pro machine, it doesn't have any card slots, it doesn't have a full keyboard, it doesn't have an easily accessible hard drive (seriously a Pro laptop!!!).

For the fun of it, my dream Mac for now:
3.2GHz Mac Pro
16GB RAM (good enough for me but probably still overkill)
ATI Radeon HD 4870 (that should be good enough for me)
Blu-ray support and drive
30" new Cinema Display
1TB HD(good enough for me)

I wouldn't call going from white plastic to aluminum a redesign. A design shift, maybe. But candy imac->sunflower->current monstrosity, those are redesigns.

my dream imac:

24".
quad core.
1tb drive that's "user" replaceable.
4gb RAM standard.
8800 or better video card.
Optical Drive.
redesigned mouse.
all the wireless do hickies.
tv tuner built in.
more USB ports I mean like 10 at least.

To be honest, my mac dream is that my iMac keeps working as it is now without any hardware issues. I'm very satisfied with the current performance.

But sure, more RAM (particularly to give more to a virtual machine), 3+ GHZ quad core Intel processor, more powerful graphics card (more for OpenCL in Snow Leopard than graphics per se), Blu-ray would be great :D

um... idk if you have ever personalized a computer or built one or even opened up you hood on a PC but...i need to say at least the first part here or i just don't feel like im american

IDK HOW YOUR GOING TO PUT A 1GB GDDR4 VIDEO CARD in a mac thats only the size of the monitor. ddr3 is hot let alone gddr3 or gdd4. and 1GB thats to much to ask for with gddr4. im sorry did you want your mac to make your toast to?

and then on top of that you want a quad which will be 2x the heat once again...

o and the heat from your huge ass HD. 1TB sounds fun and all. But no concern about speed? why not 2 500GB? the TB is sweet but if you want speed which im guessing by your other specs you do you should get 2 HD. 1. to do fast performance needs
2nd to hold whatever you want a TB for

and 8gb of ram... well ok soo you don't care about the speed? why not just 4gb of 800mhz or maybe even push it to 1066mhz? 8Gb won't help you unless your going to run some huge thing like crysis and then run photo shop illustrator and then want to pull up something else, and it won't pull up fast may i remind you because you want 667mhz...

soooo im guessing you want apple to redesign it so you can have a imac that sticks out 4 inches thick with a huge fan (or fans more likely) then lets hope you wanted it to run some what quite (atleast so you could here someone talking to you one the phone) apple has to charge you a premium for all that harware that most dream PC's (no marked up price Dells or custom computers) can't get you!!! o and your massive monitor will have to have a HUGE ASS BASE to support all the wieght you put up on the monitor.

thank you and have a nice day. :apple:
